In an exclusive interview with CNBC, Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said he believes Intel is threatening to delay a massive manufacturing facility in order to gain "leverage" with Congress. Legislation to boost the U.S. semiconductor industry — including $52 billion in assistance — has stalled as the House and Senate wrestle over competing approaches, and on Thursday Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell threatened new obstacles to passage. Intel said it remains committed to Ohio, but the pace of its expansion depends on the legislation, known as the CHIPS Act, and Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told CNBC this week more investment could shift to Europe.
