AVON LAKE, Ohio — Fans who came out to the Week 1 matchup between Strongsville and Avon Lake were treated to a little bit of everything with a combination of big plays at key moments on offense, defense and special teams. When the dust settled at the end of the night, it was the host Shoremen, ranked 12th in the cleveland.com preseason Top 25, who came away with the 19-14 nonconference win.
